Navigation to new comments not working

Instead of taking me to the first new comment on an article, I am often now simply dumped in in the comments, to scroll through a thousand or more comments to find the first new,

In addition there is not now and has never been any way of going to the 'next new'

It is not possible to use 'find' for this even, as 'new' is part of too many words.

That could be rectified simply by altering 'new' to 'new1' or whatever, which would be possible to put in search.

Without such an amendment is it rapidly becoming impossible or impractical to follow debate in the forum.

And I now note that on this page there is not even a link so that the topic can readily be sent to other SA users for their comments on it.

Oh dear.

Hi,

There is indeed a way to navigate between new comments.

Please notice the orange arrows next to the "NEW" banner. Is this not working for you?

In terms of linking to this thread, the URL should appear in your browser as:
https://seekingalpha.com/feedback?uri=/forums/1-feedback-forum/topics/1464-navigation-to-new-comments-not-working/

What do you see?

The arrows work for me.  The issue is that on about half of the articles, when you follow a link from the "bell" icon (for updated comments), that link takes you to the BEGINNING of the comment section, not to the first new comment.  If you can find your way to a new comment, then the arrows work.

That has got an old guy out of the worst of it, but as others have noted, the bell icon often takes you to the beginning of the comments, not the first new.

And I assumed that a link to this thread would be provided in the same way as for comments, with a link icon.

Hi Daniel.

Thanks for clarifying how the 'new' works.

There is however still the issue that on perhaps 50% of occasions instead of going to the first 'new' comment clicking on the notification simply goes to the start of the comments section, which is a problem which has progressively got worse.

That makes some large threads virtually useless, as it is too much hassle to scroll right down to locate it.

If your IT guys can't readily fix it, simply making 'new'  into 'new*' or whatever would make it a searchable term.

Cheers.

Hi,

We will try and figure out why this sometimes occurs. What happens if you refresh the page? Does it work then?
