In news feed, if click thru to read detail, and that back, it loses your place

When scrolling down thru news feed, and then click thru on a story for detail, and then click back to continue going thru news feed, it loses your place in the news feed.  Please help.

using Pixel 2 XL.    (i also had problem one month ago when I was using original Pixel XL).
