New Mute feature, if a user chooses to mute me, and I later click to reply to a comment that user has made will my comment be displayed for others to read?

If users, there are thousands, choose to mute my commentary, I will not know who they may be? If I read a comment and elect to "REPLY" and the user's comment is one of those users who chose to mute me, I have no way of knowing that, will my comment reply be hidden entirely from EVERYONE and go unposted to the thread?

Hi,

Your comment, posted as reply to someone’s comment, is not visible only for a user, who muted you. Whole thread of comments is not visible for a user, who muted you, if you are thread starter. However, all other users will see your comments normally.

Eugene

Eugene, Still unclear, if I didn't START the thread but responded to a user and  the user who I responded has muted me will the response I submit be visible to all those who haven't muted me. I responded to someone but my comment never got posted up. I suspect that user I responded to has muted me but  I have no way to determine that. Is there any means to determine who has muted me so I don't bother responding to them?

Hi,

Muting someone only impacts your view. It does not impact what other users see.

For example, if John mutes Sam, John will not see any comments Sam posts. If Sam posts a comment and other people reply, John won't see Sam's parent comment or any replies to it.

All other users see the full comment thread unless they also choose to mute someone.

I hope this answers your question. Let us know if we can provide any more clarity.

Thanks,

Daniel

Daniel,

My last three 'innocuous' comments were met with a SA reply that they were under review.  Am i being singled out by SA?

Hi - so users who post factually inaccurate comments should be reported using "Report Abuse" function rather than "Mute" ?

thank you
