You can delete them via the edit button which looks like a pencil, but if it is really cumbersome you should just log in via the web site. The UI of the app was not optimized to make it easy to delete large numbers of portfolios :)
Even with desktop browser it's very difficult to find the edit|rename|delete options. It took me a good 10min to find it and I bet some may never find it. Only if you hover the mouse underneath the portfolio name will those options appear. I found it by fluke. Ridiculous.
