Why is lookback period for contributors' performance only 12-months?

To evaluate a contributor's recommendation, I'd like to see the price performance on stocks that were evaluated by contributor going back to when he/she first started writing for Seeking Alpha.  Why is the look-back period limited to 12 months (or should I be doing something differently to get the long term performance of contributors?).
