First time since joining seeking alpha I’m Receiving a free article limit message for about a week now.Didn’t receive any email or notice about a change on the site and not sure if others are experiencing same issue or if it’s a glitch I’m experiencing.  If there is a new article limit how many is it and how/when does it reset?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out!

In order to continue providing our users with outstanding financial analysis and news, we changed our Paywall policy in January 2021.

You can read more about this change here: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4396836-important-update-for-seeking-alpha-users

The good news is that you can still access any article on any stock, even without a paid subscription, though there is a monthly limit to how much you can read.

This limit is dynamic to the individual member, based on the device they use, the traffic source, and a number of other parameters. It resets itself every 28 days
.

If you want to keep reading past the limit, you can just go ahead and start your free two-week trial of Seeking Alpha Premium - no commitment required.

Premium, apart from providing you unlimited access to analysis articles also provides you with many other powerful tools that can help you with your investing. You can get an overview of the service here.

Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out in case further assistance is required.

It is NOT resetting every 28 days. I have been waiting for the reset for 60 days! How am I supposed to decide which services are worth following if I cannot read and evaluate? Many of these authors are worthless, which happens, but I have to be able to test them.

The last article I was able to read was on October 18. I tried to read an article yesterday but it’s still not available. I’ve really cut back (went to Yahoo Finance), but was surprised there wasn’t a reset.

I also opted to eliminate all emails and I still receive many throughout the day.  I also receive more notifications via my smartwatch than I did before. Strange business model.

I am very happy that SA moved towards a paid model.  The time for “testing” is over.  SA should have never been free in the first place.

Does anyone else find it ironic that someone who purports to seek more alpha than you doesn't mind paying for info that is free elsewhere or paying for an unknown amount of service?  Wasting money does not generate alpha.

Hi thomasf55!  To answer your question:  Nah; he's right and I'm wrong.  He told me so himself much earlier in the thread.

Unable to view articles.. hit limit message …

to say..

this is too vague for me …

not worth effort … I’ll find a new site .. it’s too bad

These comments are misleading. I was a Seeking Subscriber for many years. After being blocked from reading articles I moved away. It's been months since I last checked. Today I want to read an article but can't. I've reached my limit. It's been well over 28 days since I was here. Seeking Alpha could have placed ads and keep the access free. I wonder how long SA will last...

Note to SA. The majority of my time on this site is seeing an interesting headline and skipping down to the comments. A significant number of articles are pump articles. And they are repetitive. So I don't read them anymore. I'm interested in the comment section where other investors like myself share their ideas and opinions. That's where the true value of seeking alpha is, investor comments and opinions. They provide market sentiment. I provide comments and opinions as well.

my thanks to the many other commenters over the years.

I'll check back abour once a month to see if your paywall policy changes back. Until then I have many other options.

" Alpha is an industry leader in mining the wisdom of the crowds for insights on every topic of interest to investors."

Now that we have been "milked", we'll have to pay for our wisdom. Wikipedia still describes SA as "a crowd-sourced content service for financial markets."

I am a new user and clicked on two articles both I am unable to read. Says I reached an article limit and wants me to pay money. In the upper right hand corner "articles read" lists the two articles I clicked on both of which are behind a paywall and I was unable to read. This is weird what is going on with Seeking Alpha?

By my analysis,SA is trying to increase profits by increasing prices. Seldom works by the way.

I’m really glad they are increasing their prices.  I hope they make more profits.

Thank you S.A.  I've been along for the ride for about a decade, loyally reading most articles and authors that I like every day.  It takes me several hours usually and I've put up with all the ads that accompany them.  However, I have access to professional advice already. If forcing me to upgrade to a paid service is how it's going to be from now on, then just color me gone.  You're going to save me several hours every morning.  Up until now, I found some value to the service.  Now, I find none.  As for the limited number of "free" articles each month - bah, humbug.  Seems the appropriate time of year.  Goodbye.
