Googlemail is being withdrawn. Attempts to alter my e-mail to davewmart@mail.com do not seem to register as it shows my old email still as my current one.

Hi - did you click on your profile icon on the upper right hand corner and then click settings? You can change your email address there.
My old email was davewmart1@googlemail.com
