I tried connecting with 2FA on and off, during all types of hours on different days. I still cannot link my account to SA. Super frustrating!

Hi there,

Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the inconvenience caused.

Fidelity is working on enhancing its security features for third-party connections (like with us via Plaid) and hence, temporarily, they are unable to link their account.

Plaid has confirmed that they are expecting this issue will be resolved soon.

I will request you to bear with us till that time.

Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out in case further assistance is required.

What is the status on this? It's a huge inconvience to keep my portfolio up to date with SA when it should be automatic.

Very Frustrated that this isn't resolved.  Not allowing Fidelity connectivity.  A large company like this should have connectivity.

So I found a slight workaround that I am using that has - briefly - satisfied my annoyance at not having the Fidelity brokerage connection.

You can upload a CSV of all your positions, number of shares, cost basis, etc. and create a portfolio with it. Download the CSV from "positions" section in fidelty, rearrange/rename columns etc per SA instructions and then upload to create a new portfolio in SA.

It shows everything you had before Fidelity was axed. The only NEW annoyance is that when you get dividends or buy new holdings you need to add them individually.

- in seeking alpha go to all portfolios

- new portfolio

- upload csv

- follow instructions

- (note that it has to be saved as straight up CSV, and the column headers cant have caps)

Post back here if you need a hand - it took me a few days to fully understand the logic behind the CSV upload.

Hi Tobes, I followed all instructions, yet SA is saying it's incorrect. I removed all caps from the column headers, only included the 4 columns with exact titles. I didn't have a date column when I pulled the file from Fidelity, so I just added it with today's date. Should I leave the date column blank? I titled the file Brokerage.csv, of course saving it as a CSV file. I can't figure out why it's rejecting at this point.

yes it’s riddled with oddities.

- you def need a date, try setting it to 10/31/2023 (i found it rejected single digit dates)

- remove the dollar sign from the cost and just have numbers. make sure the costs you have are the avg cost basis numbers not price.

- make sure that if you have any ticker conflicts that you align them with SA. for example i own PBRA which is PBR.A in SA.

- mine was saving in an odd CSV format so when you “save as” make sure to save it in straight csv - scroll down the format list it’s in the middle of the options of excel (at least it was for me)

Let me know how you get on. we will get there took me weeks of experimentation for it to upload.

This issue is so frustrating.  Fidelity is one of the largest players in the space.  It makes me really irritated, I don't have time to clean up a CSV file for upload when it is only a static snapshot and needs to be re-done every time buy/sell to be accurate....

Any updates would be appreciated.

I love the SA forum but without the full portfolio, it feels like we are paying for 1/2 of the service that was offered.

I agree that this significantly reduces the value of the SeekingAlpha service.  While ideally an integration service like Plaid is the easiest and the best, services like Plaid and who they support continuously change.  I am not sure why SeekingAlpha cannot make the manual upload process easier.  I do not need to track cost basis in SeekingAlpha but would like to see Quant Ratings, SA Ratings, etc. at the very least, but there does not even seem to be a way to just upload a symbol list to do that.
