Website malfunction.

Website crashes and/or freezes and/or re-locates me to different area of article. I thought this may be due to high volume usage, but this occurs seven days a week and all times of the day. This problem seems to be getting more severe as time passes.

Hi folks, the common denominator across all of you who are having this issue is that you use the Edge browser from Microsoft.  Please try this in Google Chrome and let me know if the problem is resolved for you.  Please note that Microsoft plans this year to replace Edge with a new browser which is really just Google Chrome inside.

Thanks,

Jacob

Thank you for the follow up.

Rather than it being an issue that is centered around ads, it appears as though there is an issue with how our site handles images on articles not being palatable for Microsoft Edge.

I have passed on this information to our development team who will investigate the problem.

The solution which I posted about earlier continues to work well for me.

Something has definitely changed at SA.  Now when I have ads on a SA page, my free memory disappears and my browser locks down.  This just started lately.

Hi RMaxM and anyone else on this thread.   We believe this issue is related to ads specifically on Edge and maybe Internet Explorer 11, but we cannot reproduce it in our offices, and there are many ads that you may be seeing that we are not, depending on the region you are in..

It would be extremely helpful if you could post screenshots of the ads that you are seeing while you reproduce the problem, and help us pin it down.  Thanks, Jacob

Thank you for the additional info, this is perfect.

Apologies, I was addressing everyone who had/has an issue. The more data I have, the quicker my team can replicate the issue and troubleshoot.

Thanks again for flagging the issue and for the additional info.

Hello,

Would you be able to supply us with the operating system, browser version and geo location that you are seeing this issue in? as that would be a big help in identifying where the issue could lie.

Many thanks,

I communicated with Buyandhold 2014 who was having a similar problem.

He said he tampered with the advertisements and his situation improved slightly.

So, I went one step further. Bear in mind this solution has not been in place very long.

I did not change my browser from edge to chrome, but I believe that my problem with the site has been corrected by my doing the following:

I went to "settings"
I clicked on "privacy & security"
I scrolled to "cookies"
I changed the default setting
from "don't block cookies"
to "block only third party cookies"
Then I rebooted my computer and all problems with Seeking Alpha cleared up.

Good luck to you all.

Thanks, that is very interesting... What made you try this solution ?
