I can open app on phone but my computer suddenly will not open website

opened successfully in Chrome.   The problem appears to be in Safari

I can open SA in Chrome,  but it appears to be a "guest" window,  won't give me any way to login to my account.

no error message.  I can open any other website using google on safari ,  but when I try to go to Seeking Alpha the 

progress line stalls out immediately and won't go any further no matter how long I wait .
