Notifications badge count stuck at 1

On my older iphone, this bug used to be a problem only inside the app (on a toolbar), the count next to app icon was accurate. After upgrading to iphone 11, I am seeing the same problem on the outside, next to app icon - no matter how many notifications I get, the badge only shows 1.

Same problem here, but on iPad.  Very annoying!

Why break what was working just fine?

I’m facing the same issue on my iPhone 8. My ipad works fine though.

anyone know how to contact SA for help?

This is the only way to reach support known to me. The more upvotes the issue gets, the better the chance it’ll get some attention. Worst of all, it happened after I became a higher tier subscriber. No more, thanks.

That “1” badge count made me miss updates a few days in a row. Essentially, the app is useless now, and I don’t even open it anymore. Reading updates on desktop at designated times and looking for a new service. Nice work SA.

Hi Russian Blue,

We now show only 1 in the app icon to indicate that there are notifications in the app.

This does not reflect the overall number of notifications you have, rather just to indicate to you that you have notifications you need to check.

Members who see changing numbers have a very old version of the app and should update their version as soon as possible.

Best,

-Dave

That is not how it used to be; it would be a (fairly accurate) count of unread notifications.  So obviously some “fix” made things worse or less useful, moreover since for me the count bubble never clears, it stays stuck at 1, even with all notifications read, and the only way to clear it —for me on iPad— is to swipe from the upper right corner the screen mirroring, and swipe it back.  Voila, count bubble gone.  Either reinstate an accurate counter or replace the “1” with something else.

And perhaps stop fixing what isn’t broken...

Dave,

Have you ever seen any other app that would give you “1” to indicate you have an unknown number of emails, messages, notifications inside? Me neither.

Btw, each new notification in SA generates a separate message in iPhone’s Notification Center, so, clearly, someone didn’t think this through.

Dave,

If the purpose of showing “1” in the app icon is to tell users that there are notifications in the app, then this app has failed its purpose. Like what Russian Blue has mentioned, no other app indicates “1” for you to play a guessing game on how many actual notifications you have. I’d much rather have the older version in this case.
