This is super helpful. We are working on a "Portfolio Analytics" tab for subscribers and this is likely something we will add there. Any other metrics you would like to see, please let us know.

Thanks,

Sorry about the delay in responding.  The inclusion of this analytic tool will be great and move me to become a paid subscriber.  Glad that you liked the idea and appreciate the feedback and prompt responses.

For some, it may also be helpful to create a tab that shows monthly income--many are dependent on that. Key here for many is the monthly as well as annual income. Schwab provides this data through a bar graph with the monthly totals at the top and the annual figure provided as well. Interesting choice to  make about trailing dividend yield or forward dividend yield.  For me, I would prefer to see both as alternatives go choose from, but that choice is SA's.

I know this can get cumbersome, but I choose to have all dividends reinvested.  Great if we can periodically import the data as opposed to a manual entry.  Or in the alternative, allow us to specify dividend reinvestment and have the figures automatically calculated.  The monthly and quarterly changes as your portfolio becomes more diversified can become a bit tedious.  Also you do not allow for fractional shares, can this be changed even to the nearest tenth of a share.

Many thanks for following the recommendations and ideas so quickly. Very impressive.

I think many SA followers would find this helpful, especially those who follow the numerous contributors such as Dividend Sensei, Rida Mowra and Brad Thomas to name just a few.

I created a variety of portfolios that reflect both actual holdings and interests. One such portfolio reflects the equities which I hold that are geared for dividend income. These stocks reflect the recommendations of the SA contributors and services to which I subscribe.

The information that would be helpful would be the total value, in this case of my dividend portfolio, divided into the total current earned interest of the stocks in that same portfolio. For example, if Stock A is valued at $10 and I have 100 shares, the market value is $1000.00. If that same stock has an annual dividend of $1.00 per share the yield is 10%. If I own a second stock also valued at $10.00 and again I own 200 shares the value is 2000.00 but only pays a $0.50 dividend per share, the yield is 5% for the holdings.

Thus, I have a $3000.00 portfolio that yields $200.00 in earned dividends for a yield of 6.7%.

The formula is: total earned dividends for all equities based on the number of shares for each equity

total value of portfolio.

The information is already in the portfolio system, you just need a way to express it in the table or provide a “button.

Let me know if you have questions or comments. Appreciate the interest.

Hi,

Can you please define what you mean by weighted dividend yield?

Thanks,
