New App Feedback

I just started using the new app. First it would be nice if there was a way to get back to the previous page by either a back arrow or swipe right. For example if I select an article under a stock in my portfolio, the only way to get back to the stock (and the list of articles) is to select portfolios at the top and then select the stock again. If you are down several levels then each time you have to go back to the top and navigate down again. Second I have to go up to “Trending” in order to see the market indices (and then I have to navigate several levels to get back to where I was).

Thank you for reporting, we are bringing back the back button in the next update.

For now, swipe should work for you - this is the iPhones native back button.

the new UI is absolutely terrible. I have no idea why a team would want to take an aesthetically perfect app design and turn into a kid’s crayon drawing. This has been a problem with a lot of IT teams I’ve worked with in my two decade long professional technology career. Changing just for the sake of change.

The absence of a “notification inbox” is for several of us long term users the single worst new “feature” of the redesign.

The previous version allowed the ability quickly read, delete, or return to unread status an article/report. It was an essential management tool to separate information that was nice to know and could be cleared out upon initial reading, versus those articles/notifications that required further analysis/action/response.

In the current version, there are no controls to manage the notifications/articles/reports at all. The app forces the uses to scroll around, every time, to get back to essential pieces of information that are now buried in a laundry list of articles/reports of disparate utility.

Request that you consider restoring the “notification inbox” or instituting control features to manage the latest articles/reports. Without much melodrama, this was a critical element of utility of the previous version of the app.

The new design is awful. Loosing easing access to notifications is a deal breaker. There is no reason for me to use Seeking Alpha anymore. You’ve made it too difficult to access the information that I want to access.

Thank you so much for the extremely useful description of how you use the notification inbox and what you are missing from it.  We have been discussing this issue internally and will decide how to proceed based on user feedback..

A few questions for you (and for everyone on this thread):

If we would restore the notification inbox, how could we make it even better than it was ?

Is it primarily about notifications or is it about the ability to save articles for later reference and recall them at will (also mark as unread) ?    e.g. Saving an article is something which you could do from anywhere e.g. long pressing or swiping on a notification in iOS, or clicking a save button inside any article  ?

My concern about the notification inbox, based on feedback, is it might be being used as a long term storage of saved articles which is not what it was designed for.   People have complained on the forum that they "lost their notifications", now i think they possibly meant that they lost the carefully curated history that they expected would be retained long term and we disappointed them. Something like a saved articles storage would be permanent.

Appreciate your thoughts,

Jacob

i do fully agree. In addition I am asking back also the useful feature that allowed gettting down to the comments section of an article just by clicking once on the comments bubble icon that was in the upper right corner of an article. This allowed to follow discussions later on wirhout the need to scroll down the entire (already read) article.

The notification tab is the only place I go to read articles/news about the stocks I follow. I don't use it to read articles from 3 months ago. It needs to come back or the whole app is useless.
