Cursor always goes to search box, disrupts navigation

Whenever I refresh the page, it does not load in the same spot I refreshed it - it goes to the search box at the top of the page every time - so annoying, because I just want to refresh the page, I do not want to search anything 100 times a day: I want to refresh the comments to see the latest results, not to go to the search box - which the latest of your "upgrades" takes me to. When I load a page, same thing, the cursor is in the search text box. Why? I hardly use the search, most of the time it is established links, authors, pages, etc. Now I can't use space bar to scroll down a page. Nor can I use arrow down to scroll down. What the heck??? If I want to search, I will easily go to top of page and hit the search box - once in a month or so.

REALLY DISRUPTIVE (in a bad way!!!) I assume it is a matter of time till you guys figure out you screwed up so much. Your site is a pain to navigate now. I just want you to swallow the pride and fix it, and say "sorry, we made a mistake".

Hi Daniel,

It is still the same. Any navigation leads to the search box, can't use arrow down or space bar to scroll. The navigation in general is erratic depending on where on the page you are (top, below top, or in comments section) and when and how you hit the F5/refresh or backspace button.

Are the developers using the website themselves? Doesn't look like they do. And don't you guys have a sandbox for new development to test it out before pushing it into production?

Don't mean to be mean; just annoyed.

I am thinking maybe you guys fixed part of the problem, but not all of it. The main problem, to be clear, is this.

I click a link to an article, the new page opens, and... the cursor is in the search box. Why is it in the search box? I want the read the article I just navigated to by clicking the link to the article. Do I want to search? No. I want to be able to scroll down the article by using the usual ways like down arrow and space bar (the 'page down' alias). Also when the page refreshes itself (like the home page), I do not want it to put the cursor back in the search box.

I hope this is clear as to what the problems are that I encounter.

Thank you...

Hi,

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback. I totally hear why this is annoying. The idea is to make it easier to navigate to different quote pages without having to click into the search box. Most users use their trackpad or mouse to scroll so they don't encounter this issue. We will evaluate this and make a change if need be.

Thanks,

Daniel

Hi,

Just wanted to update that we've fixed this issue. You should now be able to use the down arrow.

Thanks,

Daniel
