See new comments only on Long thread

Some of the articles I've been following recently are getting many hundreds of comments in the course of a week. These comments can be anywhere in the thread and aren't all just at the bottom which makes it very difficult to find only the new ones. It would be nice if there was some way to filter to see only the new comments.


I also notice when I use my phone to view new comments on an article with a long thread it can take a long time to see the comment. Sometimes it doesn't seem to get there at all and I end up needing to scroll all the way down manually.

On the website you can do this.  Click "Track new Comments" on articles you are following (at the top of the comment section.  

You will then  receive consolidated alerts when there are new comments on an article you are following.   There is an alert indicator in the upper right corner of the website.  It looks something like this:



When you click the bell, you will see your alerts, here is an example:

When you click this, it will take you to the first new comment and you can then jump from comment to comment quickly, as shown below.   Hope this helps.

Yes, I know that. My point is let's say I'm following an article that has 1000 comments. I click on the bell and see there are 10 new comments. The first new comment could be 1/10 of the way through the comment section, the second new comment 2/10 of the way through, and so forth. Once it brings me to the first new comment it's very hard to find all the other new comments as I have to scroll through a hundred posts to find it. Instead I'm suggesting some kind of filter that would show only the new posts and all the other comments would be hidden.
