Daily Digest vs. Individual Author emails

I had been receiving individual author emails, which was fine.  Then I noticed the option to send all I follow in a daily digest.  I am receiving the digest.  But I'm also receiving the individual emails too.  I expecgted I would receive only the digest if I selected that option.  Am I missing something?
