Your bastardization of "Headlines" for PRO promotion

If you are trying to push a paying customer away, you're doing a great job. As I navigate around your site, the Headlines indicator keeps directing me to view the latest news, etc. When I get there, I'm continually annoyed to find that the "news" items is just another wording change to push "PRO" subscriptions ("cleverly" put in the 3rd position every time). I put the likelihood of me doing that at right around 0%.

PLEASE stop the nonsense.

Step1 is me seeing the "3" next to the "My Portfolio" menu. Step 2 is what I see when I then go to my portfolio - nothing new and no number next to the "View Headlines" button. When I scrolled down to the news, etc., there was nothing there that I hadn't already seen minutes earlier. Now things seem to be in sync. Later, this will happen again and again. 

The other aspect of my frustration was the promotion of "Pro" in the "Latest" section. Promoting it there is fine, but it stood out as possibly being the "news" item that was leading me through this frustrating cycle.

jbdecicco, Thanks for the detail and screenshots !  We are in the process of rebuilding the site with new responsive web technologies. You have probably noticed that the site header on some pages looks slightly different than other pages. Home, portfolio plus a few others use the new tech, but article page and many others are older.   
On the older tech pages, we show a red badge on "My Portfolio" with a number of new articles... This is being phased out, and on the new header we show only an orange marker next to "my portfolio" which indicates that you have new content on one or more portfolios that you have not yet visited.   Once you visited the portfolio, the orange button should not show until we detect that you have new content that you have not yet seen.   
Since we are phasing out the red number badge, and it seems that this is what is showing up incorrectly for you, I apologize but we are not going to be able to take the time now to fix it.   I would be very interested to know your feedback and any issues with the orange badge and the number inside of the "view headlines" button since my team worked on that and it is what we are using going forward, so I expect it to be super accurate,.

In addition, the Headline in the Alerts on the Android app is H-U-G-E!!!

Ah, yes - that does match-up with my experience. I am in a somewhat similar role as you, so I do appreciate the challenges and your efforts.
