Internet page keeps freezing up

Hi, when I'm on SA, my internet page keeps freezing up, causing me to go to task manager, and stopping my internet connection, then re-opening it.  I think it's the "long running ads".  Any advice to reduce this phenomenon?  It's extremely frustrating (especially frustrating when I'm 90% finished writing a post, and it freezes).  Thanks
