making settings 'sticky'

When you have a link that is 'contact us', it should allow contact, not referral to a useless list of common questions. My comment has to do with comments on articles. i wish to view them from the oldest, not the newest. Yet I have to reset this for every instance in which i review comments. Why don't you allow my 'oldest' preference to be permanent, until I change it???
