What happened to the "follow' author box? How do I now follow someone?

You should still see the "Follow" button everywhere. Can you please let us know where it's missing and include a screenshot if possible?

It really does not matter which article or author I read; there is no box to click for "follow."

Can you try disabling any ad-blockers and then try again?

Thank you for your assistance; add blocker was the culprit!  Everything works great now.
