How to find new stock ideas using Upgrades/Downgrades

Just as stock ratings screeners are a great tool for investors to generate new investing ideas, the Upgrades/Downgrades page is also a great resource for stock idea generation.

Upgrades/Downgrades can be found by hovering over the Premium icon in the top navigation bar and selecting it from the list.

In our new Upgrades/Downgrades dashboard, Premium subscribers can view upgrades and downgrades for each of the three ratings you get with Premium - the Sell-Side (Wall Street Analysts) rating, the Seeking Alpha authors rating, and the Quant Rating.

In the example below, the filter is set to display upgrade ratings changes for the last 7 days for Quant Ratings only. We can see that FTSV’s Quant rating has recently jumped from a Neutral rating to a Very Bullish rating.

Based on this information, you might then use this as a springboard to perform further analysis on this stock, such as looking into the company’s financials on the symbol page, or comparing this stock to others using the Key Stats Comparison tool.

Upgrades/Downgrades can also be found in your portfolio and is a really valuable risk management tool.

Everyday when you sign into your account, you can jump to this tool and see if any of your stocks ratings have changed.

If a stock has been downgraded, you might consider selling the stock and removing it from your portfolio. Inversely, if a stock has been upgraded, you might want to consider doubling down on that position.

In addition, we’ve included the Upgrades/Downgrades to the daily portfolio summary email, enhancing the real-time, track my stocks experience for Premium subscribers.

If you are not yet a subscriber to Premium, you can try the subscriber-only features to see if they improve your investing with a two-week free trial.
