Based on my own experience, this has been fixed.
This is one of the longest running bugs in the apps. MANY, MANY requests for a fix on this one, but it still has not been addressed.
i stand corrected: as of 23 Aug, version 5.2.3, the notifications clear and stay cleared. Thank you.
Latest 5.2.3 version does not correct the previous issue with cleared notifications actually staying cleared.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE! THIS WAS THE KEY FACTOR FOR MANY OF US THAT SET THIS APP APART. WITHOUT IT, THERE IS NO STANDOUT FEATURE FOR THE KIND OF RESEARCH I USE THE APP FOR.
Have tried other workarounds, but they don’t compensate effectively for being able to filter, delete unimportant messages, mark as unread important already read messages, and being able to return to same important already read messages.
I’ve largely stopped using the app since the update because this one major change has made it no longer relevant to me.
The absence of a “notification inbox” is for several of us long term users the single worst new “feature” of the redesign.
The previous version allowed the ability quickly read, delete, or return to unread status an article/report. It was an essential management tool to separate information that was nice to know and could be cleared out upon initial reading, versus those articles/notifications that required further analysis/action/response.
In the current version, there are no controls to manage the notifications/articles/reports at all. The app forces the uses to scroll around, every time, to get back to essential pieces of information that are now buried in a laundry list of articles/reports of disparate utility.
Request that you consider restoring the “notification inbox” or instituting control features to manage the latest articles/reports. Without much melodrama, this was a critical element of utility of the previous version of the app.
