Can not buy subscription: site won't accept my payment

I put in my credit card info, but the site just goes gray.  If I hit "enter" again it goes back to the previous form which I have filled  out.  The problem might be that I have been stuck abroad for almost a year because of the Covid crisis, but I have a US address and valid US credit card.  I do not want to list a foreign card.  Please advise.
