link accounts alert removal - Red badge

I have had a red alert badge on my app icon for a long time.  I do not want to link my accounts and I cannot figure out how to get rid of the red badge on my app saying I have a message.  It is very annoying.   How do I get rid of the red badge tied to linking accounts so I know when I have a real message to read?  Thank you
