News Item(s) Don't Always Appear in Symbol's News

Take this news item, for example:  https://seekingalpha.com/pr/17671821-blackberry-announces-availability-cylanceprotect-mobile-integrates-cylance-artificial

Look at $BB page, in the News section: https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BB

Even though the news item is tagged in the About section with BB, this most recent news item is not associated with the name!

(btw: there was also no breaking news alert on this particular item. Related bug? Or maybe the whole issue is lazy publishing where the ticker wasn't assigned at publishing time, but applied after-the-fact. All the same, news items should always be associated with the name.)

How would you rate the customer service you received?

Appreciate the thoughtful response, which also helps me to accept this as simply a difference of opinion on whether a particular PR item is newsworthy. As someone following the name (and admittedly talking my book), I think that particular item was indeed worthy. Thanks again and cheers!

Hi,

What you are looking at is a press release and not a news item published by Seeking Alpha. We don't send alerts or show press releases on our symbol pages (by default). You can see them on the symbol page by using the News dropdown filter: https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BB?news=press-release. Also, our portfolio feed includes press releases by default: https://seekingalpha.com/account/portfolio/latest

The reason for this is because many press releases are not very news-worthy. For example "Employee of the Month" or "Featured at XYZ conference". Our news team monitors press releases and will oftentimes post news stories based on key press releases.

You can always send our News Team an email with the story and they may choose to cover it: newsteam@seekingalpha.com
