Rcent notifications change on desktop with chrome

Basically the new notification system where you click on the bell might be more slick looking but less information is shown. I have no wish to scroll down yet another item when it only displays like 4 items. Before I could easily see  many more then that. This happens on the main page. Are the people making changes with web design actually using the product? I am all for new changes but not if it makes using the product more difficult or annoying.
