I'd go with one lot per one purchase approach. Otherwise you'd have to keep recalculating your fees, the date won't really make sense and once SA improves their calculations (based on dates) your numbers would be incorrect. It's also easier to just add a new lot. The only downside is that many lots means many rows in portfolio listing. I wish portfolio would by default show one row per ticker that could be expanded to show one row per lot (either per ticker expansion or for the whole portfolio).

Hi. Another use case is that whenever I clicked on Follow button on a ticker's page, the ticker was added to my default and only portfolio. So now I have there a few of my real holdings and a lot of tickers I just wanted to watch. That is not practical and I'd like to rearrange it by creating a new portfolio and moving some tickers over there. Most likely I'd use one portfolio for my real holdings and another one for alerts. So the idea suggested by the OP is definitely useful and desired. Or is there a better way how to deal with portfolios, holdings, alerts, etc. ?? Thanks.
