Finally got it done by entering the edit function at the bottom of the portfolio. Once in clicking the x on the left deletes the item but without any second chance dialog box (OK, but not desirable).

Still a problem from data tab under My portfolio. Cannot delete. It is not clear how I would delete stocks from other My Portfolio tabs as the function to delete from the left side list disappeared a long time ago.
