Website layout update/change

Why did you change the layout of the websites news feed?  It is much more difficult to scan with eyes to find specific stocks that you are interested in, as well as now appears to limit the quantity of articles it holds in its memory (list)...  Is there an option to use the previous layout?  Frankly, this makes me want to drop my membership & go to another source for news!

I can't find "my calendar" anymore with the upcoming earning release and ex-dividend for my stocks.

And I entered all the stocks I owned and the number of shares. It just disappears now my portfolio is just all the stocks I followed like on the mobile version. I don't care about 2/3 of those stocks. I wish I could still use the old version. The new version of this website is useless to me.

Hi Gatsu, go to your portfolio and click on the "earnings" tab to see upcoming earnings dates for your stocks and the "Dividend" tab to view the ex divs, payout dates etc.  Click the column headlines to sort.

I agree, scrolling through news takes too much time now.  Someone mentioned FINVIZ. It has a great snapshot, more info than the SA home page. I don't think SA is going to listen to customer feedback.   Why is voting disabled for the above comment?  SA that is just "bad news".

Hi Scout.  Click "Show Full Stories" to see the Premium layout where you can scroll through and read all items in one view without pictures.

So, you make a change customers hate so that they will have to pay to get back the useful function you took away.  Nice revenue model.  Let's see how that turns out.  If no one switches to premium I hope you will put back the functionality we lost.

Thank you for your team still listening to the feedback.

It's better now, but tighten up the spacing please, as the old version.

Now the layout is still not easy to read, scrolling through news take too much time.

I tried to use the latest news again, TBH it's torturing, one page only one news. It will let us miss so much important news actually.

On the page of the latest news, what's the point of the calendar to select the date? seriously? The past news is useless in markets.

Or like today you just found one stock crashed, and you don't know why then you select the date of the calendar, then you find yesterday you just missed one important news because of the layout.

I don't know why the product team developed the new useless layout or redesign, it looks like run by an amateur, or some general news websites, like yahoo or somewhere, you should focus on the content of the website, and avoid mistakes that happened so many times these several weeks.

The point is that why you did these changes, not what the changes you did recently.

It's not a news website, it's a financial website.

You have to know what information your customers care about in the financial industry.

  • what's the style guide for your brand
  • do you understand what your site is for
  • what users expect from it, do you do audience research
  • What does the user want from your website?
  • What is the purpose of the content? What are you hoping to achieve
  • What are users looking for when they visit your site? how to classify
  • did you analyse competitor sites
  • the new functionality of your website, what you want it to do

Pointless generic thumbnails that add nothing to the content or navigation and take up loads of space! Why?? DId someone on the board decree, 'More graphics! I don't care how but I want more little pictures everywhere.". And the index charts have gone :(

Thank you, Jacob, but this is not a solution.  With the large bar of pictures above and the reduced space for actual text "Show Full Stories" allows only the most recent single story to show without scrolling.  That is VERY different from how it used to be.  Sorry, I tried to get used to it for a week now, but I just cannot use it.  For the first time in years I spent the day without Seeking Alpha Stock Market News on my desktop.  I signed up for a trial with Bloomberg instead.  Please give us the option to have the old format.

Go to FINVIZ.  No scrolling and good content.  I just read AMD had a downgrade.  I checked SA and they had not reported it yet.

I just wanna check if there's any update. It seems like youpersist in the new layout.

That's fine, but I need to get my membership back, I paid annually and it's not the same website I paid for.

hi,

I think the additional column that presents the change in actual amount of a stock price doesn't help me to read the numbers better. It blocks the change in % which I think is much more important.
