News Items Not Expanded anymore?

lemongrass 1 year ago in Website updated by bndsnstks 1 year ago 37 3 duplicates

Latest news feed appears to have just switched to showing only headlines, and not the expanded view of each item.

https://seekingalpha.com/market-news
I don't see any option in settings for changing that back?

Duplicates 3

yeah that needs to be fixed asap please

+3

agreed. please fix this asap. thanks in advance

It's apparently only for premium members now. They are trying to monetize their entire base and we see constant pop-ups to join. This website is losing what made it special (our opinion of course)

yeah that's the truth.

Why wud i pay Seeking for content, brokers provide for free. Or pay a legiemitate news site for news. THis is nuts. Seeking was my go to site every morning and now i wont use it.

Hi,

We really value all of this feedback and thank you for being a long-time Seeking Alpha user.

Can you please share which broker platform offers a full text news stream of short form bulleted news? The only products I'm aware of which offer this experience are paid products like FactSet StreetAccount and Bloomberg First Word which are available in institutional grade products.

Our headline experience should be comparable to most other free sites and broker platforms. Our Premium product offers the institutional grade experience for a fraction of the cost.

Thanks,

what made your site like able you just took away. There are other sites that do this without the pump and dump that you allow.  Seeking alpha has screwed themselves. Found better.  Continued success on your brand destruction. Well done short sighted management.

Like so many others, SA has gone to paid content only. Brokers still provide news for free, and if you do want to pay for news, I would not pay SA, pay a legit news site. Bad move by SA, my go to site for news for years. Now deleting my favorite tab.

Hi All,

Our news is still totally free. However, if you want the upgraded full text news stream experience, please upgrade to Seeking Alpha Premium. Premium not only gives you the full text stream, but also gives you access to our notable calls which are exclusive to subscribers: https://seekingalpha.com/market-news/notable-calls

In addition, there are many more benefits which you can see here: https://seekingalpha.com/subscriptions

Thanks,

Fair enough, You've put a lot of work into it and have to pay your providers as well, but just to get the full text stream is not worth $19/month.
Make it $9.99/month  /  $99/year and I'm in asap.  At least give your loyal users a one-time special offer.

Hi,

Our premium news dashboard is just one feature which Premium offers. Check out the full list here: https://seekingalpha.com/subscriptions

Yes. LOWER THE PRICE! $8, $9/mo. You'll get people to buy. $240/yr? NO WAY.

+2

You completely missed the point Daniel. Thanks for taking away this feature! Super helpful.

This site is getting worse and worse, constant pop-ups spamming for their "premium service"

Hi,

I will speak to our Marketing team about the pop-up frequency. Thank you for raising this issue.

Thanks,

Lol our news is totally free. Headlines are free all over the net. Spamming guys non stop to upgrade is so scammy. Premium calls started years ago and I woudl assume NEVER did well, So SA taking the main part of the site away from members, news. I would not sign up if this was the only news service avail

+3

Why the news articles are not expanded anymore? With the popups and all these annoyances this website is quickly becoming unbrowsable

+4

Shame on you, moneygrubbers

+1

They will learn fast, when nobody signs up for this premium crap. As nobody did for their premium calls. and as everyone mocks their articles.

The new system really sucks too much clicking on useless info to get to what you want to see. If I didn't have a subscription to an author I'd deep six this site

+2

So the headlines appear and you can click on each one to read the story __WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS CHANGE?

making us CLICK each story, what a joke.

+1

What the heck happened to our summary paragraphs!! the site is worthless with out that and I will look at other sources if you all do not provide that feature back

+3

Not the best decision...very annoying and takes away time that we spend on the site...

+2

I would prefer pop ups if it means keeping the full paragraph news summaries, they are worth it.  I really dislike this change, likely a final straw for me.  Very sad, this used to be an incredible investor community, but you are removing our reasons for coming.

Prior to the premium option, and access to more articles, we used to enjoy super rich comment streams which for me, set this site apart from any other. I learned so much!  It's not a matter of paying for your "premium" service that bothers me, its that you have it at all.  You've fragmented the community; even if I pay for the premium, many of the great commentators I used to love to read won't, and aren't here anymore. So there is no point in my paying the premium.  I still visit the site pretty often for the newsfeed feature, look at your ads, and read some of the free articles, but this latest change continues the alienation of long time users, and will result in a much less valuable site experience for everyone.

I would urge you to reconsider your decision, and use ads for your revenue vs. a pay wall.

Best regards,

Chump

I know SA needs/wants to make money. Just sell advertising for cripes sake. The less useful this site gets, the fewer people will rey to use it. With the news having become just headlines it's become just about useless already.

Save a click, use other sites!!!!!!!!!!!!!

+2

I thought I did something to deactivate the expanded view. Very annoying. Plus, the added nuisance of when you click on the story and come back to the headlines you need to scroll all the way back to the story you just read. Brutal!

+1

The implementation of this is very clumsy

+1

Horrible change indeed, I guess they want to lose a lot of friends and traffic

Agreed... this is a major annoyance:(

+2

Doing this in the middle of a market crash is a pretty bad move too...

Really a pity that this is gone. But thats how it worsk almost always.

I don't agree to people that you can get it just somewhere else. SA really gives a "twist" to the news, more towards active retail traders. I think it's unique in that sense...

+1

Please fix, a disservice to users/

+2

Hey decision maker(s),

Some friendly advice: revert to the previous news format or become irrelevant.

You have a limited amount of time to correct this.

+3

Hey news feed fans,  where do we surf to now?    Any decent alternatives?  Sad to see SA no longer support the individual inventors with these changes.

I'm very disappointed by this latest decision.  it seems the designers have been "breaking" this site for the past year.  This may be the last straw for me.
