First time since joining seeking alpha I’m Receiving a free article limit message for about a week now.Didn’t receive any email or notice about a change on the site and not sure if others are experiencing same issue or if it’s a glitch I’m experiencing.  If there is a new article limit how many is it and how/when does it reset?

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out!

In order to continue providing our users with outstanding financial analysis and news, we changed our Paywall policy in January 2021.

You can read more about this change here: https://seekingalpha.com/article/4396836-important-update-for-seeking-alpha-users

The good news is that you can still access any article on any stock, even without a paid subscription, though there is a monthly limit to how much you can read.

This limit is dynamic to the individual member, based on the device they use, the traffic source, and a number of other parameters. It resets itself every 28 days
.

If you want to keep reading past the limit, you can just go ahead and start your free two-week trial of Seeking Alpha Premium - no commitment required.

Premium, apart from providing you unlimited access to analysis articles also provides you with many other powerful tools that can help you with your investing. You can get an overview of the service here.

Hope this helps! Feel free to reach out in case further assistance is required.

I'd rather them increase the paid advertising, then have done this out of the blue to force us to pay up. Hell most of the article are the same info over and over that's almost spam or click bait. Few are worth while and I'm sure the paid subscription one are the best. But again they already have adds allover the place.

same, it’s rather annoying because it happens even on news articles.

This instantly makes Seeking Alpha useless as a service since there actually is none anymore now.

Have been using SA for years now without issues and suddenly I can’t read anything anymore.

It's hilarious because I can just copy and paste the headline into google, to find another, free article to read the exact same content. Now, I am reading ads on the other site, not SA. What a brilliant move on SA's behalf.

But they already didn’t work for free. Do you seriously believe they don’t take a cut from the paywall the authors put their articles behind?

SA is a simple gateway for news and analysis, nothing more, nothing less.

How much they charge is completely up to them.  Those that are not okay with it don't have to stay.

What I find hilarious is the fact that even though you can do that, you're over here complaining about SA's policy which they have every right to implement.

indeed. They also also have every right to change how their site works without warning, to poorly explain their free service, and not to respond to their customers' concerns. Which does not mean that such behavor is good for SA or their customers. The customers have, in turn, every right to be unhappy, voice this unhappiness and eventually leave.

The customers would be the ones paying.  Those that don’t pay are not customers.

I can't even access articles any longer that I have read in the last few days. Wasn't there a policy that at least those articles you had accessed before would remain available? Seems even that has changed.

This is no longer acceptable!

What SA does with their site is 110% up to them.  There is no question of something being acceptable or not.  Those that are not okay with the pay to read policy will have to learn to accept it.

SA:

What a cluster... Poor decision, poor rollout, poor explanation (including intentional lies or omissions). You have shot yourself in the foot. Dynamic? Secret?

I am a long-time member. Many times, I am just browsing (I guess that counts toward limit). When your contributors & advertisers see your daily active users decline (crash), they may rethink their relationship with you as well. I would suggest that you rethink this ridiculous & vague policy immediately since others may be thinking like I am, which is.... I am not coming back when you realize you're mistake and reverse it. By then, I may have already researched and found an equal or perhaps a superior source of information. By then I suspect I will have learned the new site, probably set up my portfolio watch lists, etc. BTW, while I may not have signed up for your premium service since it would be mostly redundant and not worth the expense in my case, I have, however clicked on some of your ads that led to sales.
Very disappointing.

SA's lack of transparency regarding subscription policies is certainly frustrating. While I understand SA has the right to totally screw up in this regard, I have the right to take my eyeballs elsewhere which I will do.
