Email alerts will not open

autoX 1 week ago updated by anonymous 6 hours ago 53 13 duplicates

For the last week, when I open an email alert, then click on the 'read' button I get a 'lost secure connection' notice. This is on my lap top. Does not matter what location I am in.  I tired resetting my password - did not help.

Thx

Can you please forward the exact same email you got to danielh@seekingalpha.com ? And you were trying to open it on Chrome on your Galaxy Note 8? Which email app were you using- the Gmail App?

Hi we updated something in the security settings of the website and would like to know if it solved the issue or if you still see the same error.  Please let us know, thanks.

Thanks!! I tried my email alerts today and they worked! So far so good!!

Jerry D.

Still the same. Cannot access from G-Mail. Still get (This site cannot be reached). This was so good before

when I could forward an E/M to family and they could access and read the SA article.

Hi, we made a change to try and fix this.  Let me know if you still see the problem when clicking from emails.

Sorry to say, the problem is still the same when clicking from emails.   I am using firefox.  Time and date settings are correct.  No anti-virus.

Hallo Jacob, Unfortunately I am still having the same problem as before (I just tried a few minutes ago) - Nothing has changed.  My virus protection software is VIPRE on a Windows 10 System (German version of OS).  Cheers Alan

As of Monday 11/4 my links still do not work.  Has been that way for a week or more.

Are you using any sort of anti-virus or anti-malware like Avast?

Thanks,

Also, what are your date/time setting on the computer? Are they correct?

I am having the same problem.  I must log on to SA and search for articles. Email links do not work.

What browser are you using? Do you have anti-virus? Are you date/time settings correct?

Thanks,

Having the same problem. Started three days ago. Here's the screenshot. Using Mozilla Firefox.  Have never had a problem with email links before.

I have never had problems with email links previously nor do I have problems with any other email links.  My browser is the latest edition of Firefox on a Windows 7 operating system.

I am having the same problem with getting on SA from my emails and receiving the same notification.  It implies that the problem is with SA.  Using up to date Firefox browser and my ad blocker is not blocking SA. Please help.

Is anyone here willing to do a 5-10 minute screenshare to help us diagnose the issue?

Thanks,

Daniel Hochman

I am willing.

Sorry to say, still having exact same problem as before.  Time and date are correct on computer.  Using firefox. No anti-virus.

having same problem. tried fix that you suggested on the Youtube video. using up to date Firefox-- date and time are correct-- using-windows defender-- no anti-virus--  have the same problem when I use Microsoft Edge-- started last week and only affects Seeking Alpha  e-mails

Having the same problem from my gmail.

Same problem continues.  Time/date correct. SA pop-ups, virus not blocked.

same here in the last week

I can't find access in Edge. You show Explorer in how to access TLS 1.0,1.1,1.2.  Edge doesn't permit me to see Explorer.

ditto. Can’t live without seeking alpha!, when clicking on sub-story “ Server connection is broken” ?.

Second item, I can get on phone and iPad but not Desk Top Mac.

What's happening with this problem?  I notice there are several different threads now on this same issue.

This started either last Thurs or Fri. There is no way to grant permission or exception at Firefox. They advise the issue is squarely with SA.  Have also tried to access with Edge, same problem.  You've got some kind of security issue with your email link process.

I get a similar problem clicking on links in email on my iPhone.  This only happens when on the ATT cellular network.  It does not occur when using Wifi on my phone.

Hi All,

I merged all related issues into this one master thread. We need a volunteer to do a 5-10 minute screenshare in order to help diagnose the issue.

Please email me at danielh@seekingalpha.com if you can help.

I am running updated Win 7 - 64 bit system.  Hopefully this added info helps. Problem persists 11/6 6:22 PST.

Hi,

If you can do a screenshare with our tech team that would really help us diagnose the problem.

Thanks,

I have the same issue. Here is the error message.

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

The issue remains.

If I delete the prefix "email." from the address the link works.  Tried it six times this morning.

Hopefully this helps.  Need to get this problem resolved. Thanks.

Thanks "Anonymous", I just tried this on my system (Windows 10, MS Edge, Antivirus-VIPRE) and it also functioned.  So this will now be my Workaround until the basic Problem is fixed.

What good are the E/M items if the (read now) link does not work. Been this way for several days. I shared w/

a computer tech person this AM. He was stumped.

Sincerely

Bob

Hallo, I have exactly the same Problem since 4 or 5 days. I am using Microsoft Edge and VIPRE virus protection.  Previously I never had any Problems. I am using Windows 10 with German lanuage Environment in Switzerland.

The error message that I receive is "Keine sichere Verbindung mit dieser Seite möglich" (English translation: "No safe connection with this site possible"). The following is a typical link that I have received via my email:

https://email.seekingalpha.com/news/3516620/track?type=click&mailingid=3516620&messageid=2900&databaseid=&serial=2900O3516620O1573160607845.0.2ea85b57918caabc63f6bff114a36deb&emailid=739091&userid=739091&extra=&&&3000&&&https://seekingalpha.com/account/email_auth?auth_param

Many thanks for a good Resolution of this Problem.

I have no clue about the tech in how these things work. It seems obvious though that the "email." prefix is triggering some kind of security issue. If eliminating it makes the link work SA, how about just testing this as a fix.  This is over a week old now..."being stumped" isn't acceptable.  Reach out for some help somewhere and get un-stumped.

Same here I took "email" out and it will connect.

+1

I tried removing the "email" and it is working for me, but it shouldn't be necessary to do this on every email alert that I receive. Obviously this is a Seeking Alpha issue which needs to be addressed ASAP before readers start to forego using the convenience of email alerts.  Seeking Alpha is too good for that to occur !!  Get this fixed now !!!

I thought I had a good thing going w/ this E/M from Seeking Alpha. Was able to share articles w/ family.

Now it is much more difficult. We need your help Seeking Alpha. There are a lot of people relying on this

convenience.

Sincerely

Bob

Possibly because you are trying to get into the wrong persons or rightful owners account

For those still having the issue- please let us know which anti-virus or anti-malware you may have installed.

Links seem to be working fine now. Good job. I'm sure it was difficult to track down as it seems to only have affected a small number of users.  Thanks for sticking with it.
